Terms of Service
The rules for using LiftLock. They are short, because the app is small and does not ask much of you.
1. Agreement
By downloading or using LiftLock you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. LiftLock is provided by Kode Foundry ("we", "us").
2. What you may do
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use LiftLock on devices you own or control, for your own use. Apple's standard App Store terms apply alongside these and take precedence where they conflict.
3. What you may not do
- Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive the source code, except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted.
- Resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the app.
- Use it to break the law, or to interfere with our services or anyone else's account.
- Upload anything to your profile that is unlawful, or that you do not have the right to use.
4. LiftLock is not a safety device
This matters more than anything else on this page.
- LiftLock locks a screen. It does not spot you, does not supervise your training, and does not detect injury or distress.
- It cannot disable your watch's Digital Crown or Side Button, and never claims to. Emergency SOS, Fall Detection and every other system feature keep working exactly as Apple built them, whether or not LiftLock is locked.
- Do not rely on LiftLock in any situation where being unable to interact with your watch could put you at risk.
- Training with weights carries risk. You are responsible for your own safety, your technique and your limits. If you have a medical condition, talk to a doctor before you train.
LiftLock provides no medical, health or fitness advice, and the timer is a convenience rather than a medical instrument.
5. Health permissions
If you enable Maximum protection, LiftLock starts a workout session so that watchOS will permit Water Lock, and asks for permission to save workouts in order to do so. It does not read any health data and does not save a workout to the Health app. See the Privacy Policy for detail. You can decline the permission and keep using Standard protection.
6. Accounts
An account is optional. If you create one, keep your credentials secure — you are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or remove an account that is being used to break these terms. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account, and doing so removes your profile, picture and synced settings.
7. Price and changes
LiftLock is currently free. If we introduce paid features in future, anything you have already paid for will be honoured, and we will not start charging for something that was free without telling you first. We may add, change or remove features, and may stop offering the app; where a change is significant we will give reasonable notice.
8. Availability
The core of LiftLock — locking, the timer, unlocking — runs entirely on your watch and does not depend on us being online. Optional account features depend on services we do not control, and we do not promise they will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Intellectual property
LiftLock, its name, its logo and its design belong to Kode Foundry. These terms do not transfer any of that to you. Anything you upload stays yours; by uploading it you allow us to store and display it inside the app for you.
10. Disclaimer and liability
LiftLock is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost data, or for injury arising from your training. Our total liability in connection with LiftLock will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the previous twelve months, or ten US dollars.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for LiftLock. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim that the app fails to conform to a warranty is our responsibility, not Apple's.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and for material changes we will say so in the app. Continuing to use LiftLock after that means you accept the new version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Kode Foundry is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that country have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your own country of residence.
